Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Create and manage project portfolio for performance improvement, cost reduction, and capital expansion, including supervising project managers to implement these projects.
  • Be subject matter expert on cutting and IOX process technologies.
  • Support production when process is unstable:  problem-solving and analysis.
  • Support new product introduction through expanding capabilities, supporting samples, and externally driven experiments.
  • Engage with division engineering and global technology teams to understand the long-term engineering roadmap.  Be receiver of projects to deliver that roadmap to the factory. 
  • Manage and communicate status of key engineering initiatives that drive manufacturing performance.
  • Develop technical skills for the engineering team. Champion use of scientific method to determine and fix process issues and increase fundamental understanding.
  • Ensure effective process and equipment change control management.
  • Develop and lead department safety/IAP culture


Education & Experience  

  • Bachelor Engineering in Mechanical, Chemical or Materials engineering.  Advanced degree a plus.
  • 5+ years manufacturing experience including engineering project management
  • 2+ years of experience supervision of engineers


Required Skills     

  • Knowledge of automated mechanical systems, including CNC, Fanuc robots, conveyance systems, liquid control systems, and automation safety systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills to grow an organization and create a culture of success
  • Conviction and passion for safety, cleanliness, process control and process discipline
  • Strong understanding of DMAIC, Lean and Six-Sigma methods.  Strong with statistics.
  • Customer oriented; meets customer needs with quality results
  • Ability to present in front of a group (in Mandarin)
  • Good Oral/written English communication skill (Ideally B2, but B1 considered)
  • Computer skills (working knowledge and use of Microsoft Office)

  • Experience with chemical processing, especially if related to glass.
